HHTC Update

There was no slowing down the HHTC players! Fantastic weather, beautiful courts and lots of highly skilled action. Well, two out of three ain’t bad but you all looked great! Despite the headwinds and the lack of any formal Round Robins, a President’s Social this summer nor a kids tennis camp, more tennis was played this year as any on record*.

We are so happy that we had any season at all. In April and May, it required a lot of work on the part of the tennis committee to fulfil all the requirements necessary to be able to get the courts open. Then, as the stages changed, they were able to adjust along the way to help keep everyone as safe as everyone wanted to be.

The cooperation and diligence shown by all our members was remarkable. We should all be grateful to be a part of such a considerate, thoughtful and energetic community. Thank you everyone!

The new online court booking system worked out extremely well and the committee is looking at a minor tweak or two for next year.

We lost a great friend and HHTC tennis player this year, Ken Croney. Our hearts go out to Ken’s family. Ken generously donated an AED for the property last year and but for the grace of God it was used to save a life. As requested by Ken and his family, we will be accepting donations that will go to more AED’s and their maintenance in the Honey Harbour area.

Please make sure you familiarize yourself with the location of AED when you come back next year, on the wall between the bathrooms.
It was an honor to be your President this year and thank you for an amazing season. See you in May!

* 2020 is the first year of official record keeping.

Best regards,
HHTC Executive Committee

About HHTC

For anyone unfamiliar with our club we are an autonomous club made up of members of the Honey Harbour Association. The club offers casual play, tournament and social opportunities from May to October. We are located beside the “old school house” in north Honey Harbour.

Our Membership has continued to grow over the last few years and we are currently at capacity. However, people come and go every season so please join our wait list if you are interested in becoming a member.

Court bookings can be made 48 hours in advance, one hour per day per member, through our online system at www.gigasports.com

DROP-IN TENNIS:

Mondays and Fridays we continue to offer drop in tennis from 10am - noon. All level of players are welcome (members only) and it’s a great opportunity to socialize and meet other players.

ROUND ROBINS:

We did not have any Round Robins in 2020 but the grand memories from 2019 linger on and we look forward to some fun events in 2021.

HONEY HARBOUR TENNIS CLUB ATTIRE:

We have just about sold out of our now world famous and sought after HHTC Hoodies. If you have any requests or ideas for new attire please let us know!!

MOONLIGHT MADNESS:

This is our one and only fundraiser and it just keeps getting better every year. We continue to attract lots of enthusiastic cottagers to come out for a night of socializing. This is open to everyone. You do not have to be a member to enjoy! Once again our favourite band ”Straight Shooter” kept everyone entertained and they will be back this summer! Thanks to Lisa Harding and her committee for all of their work. Mark your calendars for August TBD. This is the event of the summer and not to be missed!

JUNIOR TENNIS:

To be announced. If you have any little Biancas or Dennis’s interested let us know!!

Thanks for a wonderful season and very much look forward to seeing you in the spring, if not sooner!
